CHARLOTTE-BASED DUO AMIGO TO RELEASE MITCH EASTER-RECORDED FULL-LENGTH ALBUM, AND FRIENDS, ON JANUARY 26, 2018

CHARLOTTE, NC—The Charlotte-based trio, AMIGO, will release their 2nd full-length self-produced recording, And Friends, on CD and vinyl on their own Carlisle Beauregard Records on January 26, 2018.

Amigo comprises lead singer and songwriter Slade Baird on guitar and harmonica, Adam Phillips on percussion and vocals, and Thomas Alverson on bass guitar and vocals.   Their unique, raucous blend of Americana, pop, and rock, with a hint of psychedelia and punk rock, is downright infectious.  Baird’s clever sense of wordplay in his lyrics adds an element of fun missing in much of today’s music.

The follow-up to their highly praised 2014 release, Might Could, the 8 new original songs and a John Prine cover on And Friends were engineered and mixed by Mitch Easter (R.E.M., Let’s Active) at Fidelitorium Recordings in Kernersville, NC, with additional recording with John Plymale (Meat Puppets, Dexter Romweber) at Overdub Lane in Durham, NC.  It was mastered by Dave Harris (Tift Merritt, Southern Culture On The Skids) at Studio B in Charlotte.  The guest players include: Eddie Garcia (guitars), Nathan Golub (pedal steel, dobro), Aaron Phillips (woodwinds), Jay Shirley (Hammond organ, Vox Jaguar, piano, Chamberlin) and John Teer (mandolin, fiddle).

Mitch Easter comments, “Amigo make music that is, dare I say, joyous!  Or maybe we just had fun making the record.  Well, we did, but seriously, this is music that will make you feel better.  Amigo songs hit that perfect spot between familiarity and freshness, which in another time might mean that there would be a couple of radio hits off this record.  You can listen to them for fun or you can listen to them for emotion and resonance.  That isn’t easy to achieve, and when a band does it you realize you are listening to something real and enduring.”
