ATHENS, GA—Following up on their highly successful summer of 2015 tour, the award-winning, Galway, Ireland-based quartet WE BANJO 3 will return to the U.S. this spring, summer and fall with performances at original music clubs and some of the best Irish festivals in the country.

We Banjo 3 blends traditional Irish Music with Americana and Bluegrass affectionately described as “Celtgrass.”  Featuring banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, vocals and percussion, We Banjo 3 makes a bold and extraordinary musical statement.  Modern rhythms, traditional melodies, virtuosic technique and innovative arrangements of music and song add up to a blazing live show!

The band includes two sets of brothers, Enda & Fergal Scahill and Martin & David Howley; collectively they are among the most celebrated and distinguished musicians in Ireland today who have been at the forefront of Irish banjo and fiddle for 2 decades. Martin Howley is a 7-time “All Ireland” Banjo champion while Enda Scahill, who is also an author on Irish banjo techniques, holds 4.  Multi-instrumentalist Fergal Scahill is one of the most acclaimed fiddlers in Irish music and an “All Ireland” champion on fiddle and bodhran. Multi-instrumentalist David Howley is the group’s vocalist and also provides the band with its rhythm section.

We Banjo 3 was selected to be a part of Culture Ireland’s Centenary Programme, which commemorates the centenary of the 1916 Easter Rising.  The spring U.S. tour is a part of this esteemed global project dedicated to bringing the best of the Irish arts, including music, dance, film, theater and more, to an international audience.

We Banjo 3’s 2015 studio recording, Gather The Good, received rave reviews and was named “Album of the Year” by The “Livies” Awards, Top TIR Awards from Irish American News, Celtic Connections syndicated radio show, and Lonesome Highway RTE Radio One.  In 2015, the band also released, Live In Galway, which perfectly captures the energy of their live performances.  Their 2013 release, Roots of the Banjo Tree, won many awards including “Traditional Album of The Year” by the Irish Times.    The band is currently recording an album tentatively scheduled for a summer 2016 release.
