RELEASE TO COINCIDE WITH PERFORMANCES AT DJANGO A GOGO 2019

MAPLEWOOD, N.J.–Simba Baumgartner, great grandson of legendary French guitarist Django Reinhardt, will release his debut CD, Les Yeux Noirs, on April 26, 2019, coinciding with the annual Django A Gogo 2019 in New York City and Maplewood, N.J.

Django Reinhardt is widely considered one of the greatest geniuses of modern guitar and the creator of his own musical genre and tradition sometimes referred to as “Gypsy Jazz.”

VENUES INCLUDE THE WOODLAND AND THE TOWN HALL TO PRESENT SOME OF THE BEST GUITARISTS AND JAZZ MUSICIANS IN THE WORLD

MAPLEWOOD, N.J. – Award-winning musician STEPHANE WREMBEL in association with The Woodland and The Town Hall presents Django A Gogo 2019, a week-long celebration of legendary Gypsy jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt, from Tuesday, April 23rd through Saturday, April 27th.  Wrembel, most known for his Grammy Award®-winning composition “Bistro Fada” from the Academy Award®-winning Woody Allen movie “Midnight In Paris” is one of the preeminent guitarists specialized in the Reinhardt style.

Wrembel is also recognized for releasing a series of critically-acclaimed recordings in tribute to Reinhardt.  The Django Experiment I & The Django Experiment II were released simultaneously in March of 2017 in conjunction with Django A Gogo 2017 at Carnegie HallThe Django Experiment III was released in January of 2018 followed by The Django Experiment IV in January of 2019. On these recordings, Wrembel is accompanied by long-time collaborators Thor Jensen (guitar), Ari Folman Cohen (double bass), Nick Anderson (drums) and Nick Driscoll (saxophone and clarinet). The releases have received high praise from Jazz Times, Downbeat, Acoustic Guitar Magazine, Guitar World, Vintage Guitar, and more.
